This is about virtual and augmented reality and data-driven manufacturing. Furthermore, the students worked in mixed groups on the other two days of the LTTA on the basis of the turning stations on realistic Industry 4.0 project assignments, the case studies. At the end, the groups presented their project results. Even though the Finnish students and teachers had to struggle with the flight strike on the first day and arrived late, the students and teachers were very enthusiastic about the event. In addition to the professional exchange and acquisition of new skills, there was also a tour of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Rastatt and a visit to Rastatt Castle.

One month work and life experience in Finland

05.09.2022 | Kuopio | student thesis related to industry 4.0 and vlefactory

Right at the beginning of the summer vacations, the Carl-Benz-Schule Gaggenau sent two engineering students to Finland to advance their engineering work at the University of SAVONIA. The contact as well as the project idea originated from a joint Erasmus project called “VLE-Factory” (Virtual Learning Environment), in which CBS Gaggenau is working together with Finnish and Danish partners.

After arriving in the largest city in the east of Finland, Robin Basler and Artem Kuz moved into their apartment right next to a large lake, which was their accommodation for the next six weeks. To get started at SAVIONIA University, both were first given a detailed tour of the campus, which, with about 6,000 students, is somewhat larger than their home school. Afterwards, Lucas-Nülle’s Smartfactory, which is located there, was introduced and brought into focus, as this was the research topic of the two prospective technicians for the coming weeks. The goal was to create training and learning material for two different plant sections of the Smartfactory in English, which will then be freely accessible to all interested parties on the “VLE-Factory” website.

Robin Basler reported after his return to his classmates “that the SAVONIA University is a very large and modern university with excellent equipment, many quiet places to study as well as equipped with an excellent cafeteria”. In addition, the university offers a lot of events for national and international students to get to know each other better and also to explore the city. After the work-intensive weeks in Kuopio, the two traveled for another 10 days with a camper through the north of Finland and were able to discover many beautiful places before they had to return to Germany, as their last year of technician training was waiting for them. In summary, Artem Kuz can only express his absolute enthusiasm for this intercultural and, above all, professional broadening of horizons and is even toying with the idea of looking for a job in Finland after graduating as a state-certified technician / bachelor professional. After all, we are not the only ones who are desperately looking for well-trained technicians.

Gaggenau visits YSAO and Savonia

15.04.2022 | Iisalmi, Kuopio (Finland)

Three teachers from CBS Gaggenau visited YSAO at Iislami and Savonia at Kuopio in April of 2022. After the c Time was used for getting a better understanding of the communalities and exploring of the smart factories.

After the Corona restrictions, this was a good opportunity to get to know each other better and to work together and investigate the existing smart factories. At the same time, similarities and differences to the Festo plant in Gaggenau could be worked out. Many aspects around the VLEFACTORY project could be discussed together. Furthermore, it was possible to visit the YSAO school and the Savonia University on site, as well as to get to know their equipment and parts of the college. Also company visits and their approaches to Industry 4.0 with automation concepts in the context of manufacturing were visited.
