micro unit 3.3:
testing station

Duration: 1,5h

Learning output of this Micro-Unit:

I can

read and describe the circuit diagram of the Testing station
identify and understand the existing sensors and actors
… troubleshoot a fault with the step chain diagram and PLC ladder program for the Testing station

Getting to know the station

The Testing station is part of the Festo Didactic MPS (Modular Production System). The system is the basis for almost all mechatronics training systems by Festo Didactic.

The learning solutions encompass a wide range of topics directly related to mechatronics and factory automation, such as robotics, CAD/CAM and PLC.

In automated production, out of specification parts can lead to malfunction of the production process or in the worst cases, a complete halt in production.
In contrast to manual production where out of specification parts can immediately be rejected.

Therefore automatic part testing assumes a key role in automated production.

The function of the Testing station is to determine the material characteristics of a workpiece, to check the workpiece height and to either reject a workpiece or make it available to a subsequent station.

The Testing station is made up as follows:

  • Recognition module
  • Lifting module
  • Measuring module
  • Air cushioned slide module
  • Slide module
  • Mounting profile plate
  • Trolley
  • Control console
  • PLC board
